‘Up in the Air’ author lands Oscar seat

After bitterly complaining on Twitter that he wasn’t invited to the Oscars, novelist Walter Kirn has finally got his seat next to George Clooney. The author of “Up in the Air” threw a Twitter fit on Wednesday, claiming Paramount hadn’t extended him an invitation to the March 7 awards show even though the movie based on his book earned six nominations. “Novelists are like oil in H’wood: they drill us, pipeline us, pump us and then burn us,” he tweeted. The studio responded by saying it was fighting for extra tickets so Kirn could join Clooney and director Jason Reitman at the ceremony — and it delivered. Friday, Kirn posted on Twitter: “Thanks to Paramount Pictures for coming through with Oscar tickets and proving true to its word, which I shouldn’t have doubted.”
