Ryan Gosling’s 2005 DUI arrest revealed

LOS ANGELES — Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling has kept a DUI arrest secret — until now.

The 30-year-old star of “The Notebook” was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence back in 2005, Radar Online reported Thursday, citing a report in this week’s Star Magazine.

The Canadian, who is currently starring as a stunt driver in the movie “Drive,” was arrested by officers from the central Los Angeles station of the California Highway Patrol on March 17, 2005 according to Los Angeles County Superior Court.

He later pleaded “no contest” to a misdemeanor charge of “exhibiting speed,” despite being originally charged with “driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs” and “driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or greater.”

“Exhibiting speed” is frequently negotiated as a plea bargain by defense attorneys as an alternative to a more severe DUI charge.

Gosling was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay $849 in fines.
