Brooklyn Decker admits her acting needs ‘improvement’

Brooklyn Decker knows that her acting is not going to net her any Academy Award nominations.

“I’m still studying to get better. It goes without saying that I have a lot of room for improvement,” the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Sometimes people are like, ‘Oh, is that girl the model?’ But I think [my modeling background] opened doors. I can’t bite the hand that fed me. Once people give me a chance they realize, ‘OK, she’s here to work.’”

Decker was bit by the acting bug after landing a part in the Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler flop “Just Go With It.” This weekend, Decker has two high profile movies arriving in theaters — “Battleship” and “What To Expect When You’re Expecting.”

Decker loved the experience of filming action flick “Battleship.”

“Battleship is a big fun action movie, full of CGI and aliens and all that,” she says. “But actually being able to do something that felt real was really special.”

While filming the pregnancy comedy “What To Expect When You’re Expecting” was a very different cup of tea, Decker says that she was clearer on which direction to take her character — a bubbly, Southern blonde.

“I knew this girl, so when I went into the audition, I tapped into her,” says Decker. “She’s just fun and over the top and ridiculous. She’s really just kind of shameless in a way.”

Decker said she also enjoyed strapping on a fake baby bump, after years of showing off her toned tummy in a bikini.

“As soon as you strap that belly on, you start protecting your belly. You don’t want people to run into you and you start to waddle,” she tells the paper. “It’s funny seeing yourself waddle.”
