Barry Manilow cancels more shows after bronchitis ‘hell’

Barry Manilow has been forced to cancel more shows as he battles a serious bout of bronchitis. After cancelling his January 22 performance, as Page Six reported, he insisted he would be ready to perform in “Manilow on Broadway” tonight, and even hit the after-party at the famed Copacabana.

But this afternoon he announced he would cancel tonight’s opening, as well as Friday and Saturday’s shows. All three have been rescheduled for February 28, March 1, and March 2, respectively.

“On doctor’s orders, ‘Manilow on Broadway’ has been forced to reschedule tonight’s opening night along with the remainder of this weekend’s performances,” his rep said in a statement. “’Manilow on Broadway’ will resume performances on Tuesday, January 29. It turns out the only thing worse than hell and high water is bronchitis.

Barry is deeply sorry to disappoint his fans and is doing everything he can to ensure a speedy recovery.”

When he cancelled the critics’ opening on Tuesday, his rep joked, “Mr. Manilow can be found on the Brooklyn Bridge, getting ready to jump.”
