‘Les Miz’ weighs in on B

Tom Hooper, the director of the Oscar-nominated Broadway adaptation “Les Misérables,” was overheard weighing in on the Beyoncé “Star-Spangled Banner” lip-syncing scandal this week. “I guess she didn’t get the memo about live singing,” Hooper quipped of the diva’s prerecorded performance to Lee Daniels, director of the Nicole Kidman movie “The Paperboy,” over dinner at Jean- Georges on Tuesday. For his own film, Hooper had insisted stars including Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman all sing live on-camera without relying on lip-synching as is customary in many movie musicals. Hooper and Daniels were dining before a Q&A at the Directors Guild of America.
