Emmy Rossum drew the attention of a Saudi prince on her way to the annual New Yorkers for Children spring dinner dance Tuesday night. Spies at the bash said the actress, resplendent in a Dior dress, was in the elevator in the Mandarin Oriental when the royal approached her and asked for her number to make a date for the weekend. Rossum declined a date and didn’t give over her digits, but she joked afterwards to a friend that she hoped the prince might bankroll a future movie for her. Valentino was the sponsor of the benefit, which raised money to support children in foster care, and Hilary Rhoda, Crystal Renn, Lindsay Ellingson, Oluchi Orlandi and Olivia Chantecaille looked stunning in gowns created by the design house. Others had various sartorial issues. When Tinsley Mortimer got out of her car, the fabric on one side of her hot-pink dress came undone, and she had to stitch it up on the red carpet. Olivia Palermo also shined in an asymmetrical yellow gown designed by Katie Ermilio, but she joked of her appearance, “I look like Big Bird.” Also spotted in the well-dressed crowd: Adelina Wong Ettelston, Andrew Saffir and Daniel Benedict, power attorney Rich Farley, Steve and Christine Schwartzman, Janna Bullock, Gigi Stone, Alina Cho and Katie Lee.
