The competition on Broadway isn’t as cutthroat as it seems. When Ben Hope — starring in the Tony-winning musical “Once” — recently spotted Tom Hanks, the star of the neighboring play “Lucky Guy,” at old-school actors’ haunt Angus McIndoe, Hope sent over a Stella Artois to his more famous colleague. (Perhaps the joint was fresh out of Jeroboams of Moët?) “Tom then came up to Ben and gushed about how he can’t wait to see ‘Once,’ and that [his wife] Rita [Wilson] loved it,” said a spy. Continuing the beer bro-down, Hope later delivered a six-pack of brewskis to Hanks backstage at the Broadhurst, and Hanks subsequently sent the “Once” cast pizza pies from local John’s Pizzeria.
