Mom of CNN’s Kate Bolduan jailed for ‘nearly killing’ man in DUI crash

The mother of CNN’s new morning anchor, Kate Bolduan, has been sentenced to jail after crashing into a man while drunk driving last May.

KPC News reports that Nadine Bolduan, a 60-year-old Goshen, Indiana native, will be incarcerated for up 12 months following her May crash. Her daughter Kate was not in court to hear the sentence.

Nadine pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated and causing serious injury to the victim, Paul Fought. “I know how much pain Mr. Fought was in. I’m sorry and I beg your forgiveness,” she said in court.

Fought reportedly suffered head trauma and broken bones in his arms and legs due to the collision. “I almost died that day. I lose my job after 26 years. I am in constant pain. Nadine, I do forgive you. We did pray for you, Nadine. We continue to do so,” said Fought in his testimony.

The crash occurred last May 31, when Nadine’s Chevrolet Avalanche collided with Fought’s Buick LaSabre. She admitted to drinking two glasses of wine and her blood alcohol level was double the legal limit at 0.17 percent, according to Noble County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Walker.

The jail sentence comes 20 years after Nadine was charged with reckless homicide after her jet ski struck two little girls, killing a 9-year-old and injuring a 10-year-old, according to police reports. The charges were dismissed.

It was only last month that Kate received the coveted co-anchor position for Jeff Zucker’s new, still-untitled, morning show debuting in June. At 29, she’s the youngest morning host on any major television network.
