CBS News chief blasts ‘Early Show’ for failing to follow network’s scoops

Newly minted CBS News President David Rhodes scolded the entire “Early Show” for their “bad Monday morning” and cc’d the network’s brass in an e-mail obtained by Page Six 15 minutes after the show for failing to cover the network’s scoops from over the weekend.

“We broke major news,” he said, citing the debunking of Greg Mortenson’s “Three Cups of Tea” and his charity, Paul Allen’s “true feelings” about Bill Gates, Rep. Paul Ryan’s comments on “Face the Nation” and interview with Jerry Seinfeld, among others.

“Let’s get with it. Where’s our reporting? Make sure it’s in our show, ” he demanded in an e-mail cc’d to Chairman Jeff Fager, “60 Minutes” executive editor Bill Owens, “48 Hours” executive producer Susan Zirinsky, “CBS Sunday Morning’s” Rand Morrison, Vice President Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews and National Editor Bill Felling.

An “Early Show” rep declined comment.
