Hollywood hunk Jake Gyllenhaal has a deep side, too. The star showed off his poetry reading skills — and opened his wallet — to benefit Iraq and Afghanistan veterans on Wednesday night. The star took the stage at the IAC Building to perform a Wilfred Owen poem, “Dulce et Decorum Est,” as part of the Headstrong Project’s Words of War event. Then, Gyllenhaal broke the ice a few minutes into a charity auction by being the first to raise his hand and donate $5,000 toward treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. Also spotted was Jamie Hector (a k a Marlo Stanfield from “The Wire”). “Girls” star Adam Driver was scheduled to attend but got stuck filming.
