Lil Wayne speaks out after drawing outrage for trampling on American flag

Lil Wayne claims he didn’t disrespect the American flag…intentionally.

He tweeted, “I didn’t step on the flag on purpose! It’s a scene in a video where the flag drops behind me and after it drop it’s just there as I perform”

The 30-year-old sparked controversy after footage of the rapper trampling all over the American flag for his “God Bless Amerika” music video surfaced online yesterday.

Some fans on Twitter have already expressed outrage at the minute-long clip. “Lil Wayne standing on a American flag for a music video?… Really? That’s disrespectful to the extreme…”

While others are quick to defend the rapper. “alot of you are unreal, he is shooting a music video and looking at the camera not behind him or on the ground! stop making this something its not!”

Weezy is filming the video in his hometown of New Orleans. The lyrics include the line, “My country ’tis of thee / Sweet land of kill ’em all and let ’em die,” and the hook, “God bless Amerika / This so godless Amerika”
