Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy were almost in a rocker standoff over popcorn at the Louis Vuitton-Vanity Fair screening of “The Bling Ring” last week. Before the film, both were waiting on line at the Paris Theatre for popcorn when it was announced the concession stand was almost out, even though a lot of popcorn was still on view. Murphy declared, “Wait. Yes, there is [plenty left].” “Everyone started laughing,” says a spy. “Then Steven, who had been in the front of the line and just gotten his own popcorn, walked by James, shoved some in his mouth and said, ‘This is so good.’ Everyone cracked up.” The movie, which focuses on the real-life burglaries of Hollywood stars’ homes by a group of teens, shot scenes in Paris Hilton’s house, a crazy experience for director Sofia Coppola. “I think being in Paris’ closet was the most exotic experience I’d ever been through,” she told us. “It was fun because it was so different from my regular [world], it was not familiar at all.” Tyler and Aerosmith pal Joe Perry were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame along with Foreigner Thursday night.
