Brad Pitt ‘moved’ by public reaction to Angelina Jolie double mastectomy

Following her headline-making double mastectomy, Angelina Jolie is back to “business as usual,” according to her fiancé, Brad Pitt.

The Oscar-winning actress and mom of six announced in a stunning New York Times Op Ed last month that she underwent the preventive procedure.

“She’s doing great,” Pitt said on “Good Morning America” this morning. “When she wrote her piece we had already come out the other end and we’re feeling very good about it.”

Jolie explained in her essay that she had both breasts removed after being diagnosed with a rare mutation of the BRCA gene that put her at an extremely high risk of developing breast cancer.

“We were really surprised and moved [at] how many other people were dealing with the same issue,” Pitt said of the public’s reaction to Jolie’s decision. “Her idea was that someone could learn from her story and she would love to share that.”

The actor continued about how his longtime partner wants to make BRCA1 testing available to everyone.

“She’s certainly shown that if you do your research that you can make a decision that’s the best for you,” he gushed. “It doesn’t have to be a scary thing. It can be an empowering thing.”

The Jolie-Pitts have been traveling the world together in anticipation of “World War Z.” They were spotted celebrating Jolie’s 38th birthday in Paris and in Berlin.

Pitt says the movie, in which he plays a zombie-fighting dad, especially resonated with him as a real-life father.

“That’s the only thing that keeps me up at night [as a dad],” he said. “Is everyone safe? We tried to make this thing as real as possible when we put in those fears, certainly.”
