Kanye West is under fire for a lyric in his new album, “Yeezus,” which describes a “bitch shaking like Parkinson’s.”
American Parkinson Disease Association VP Kathryn Whitford said, “We find these lyrics distasteful and the product of obvious ignorance.”
In the song “On Sight,” West raps: “A monster about to come alive again / Soon as I pull up and park the Benz / We get this bitch shaking like Parkinson’s.”
The APDA was founded more than 50 years ago and is the largest organization in the nation dedicated to helping those with Parkinson’s and finding a cure for the disease. The degenerative illness slows down movement and causes shaking.
Despite the insensitivity, critics have responded positively to West’s latest album which stormed to the top of the iTunes charts yesterday several hours after its US release, but it now appears to have dropped from the top 10.
