Madonna to smoking fans: Stop or I’ll cancel concert

Madonna went all schoolmarm during a sound check for her concert in Santiago, Chile yesterday.

Video footage caught the 54-year-old singer lashing out some folks in the crowd because they were smoking cigarettes, apparently a big no for the Queen of Pop.

“There are people smoking right now, ” she said. “No smoking!”

Her chiding continued. “If you’re going to smoke cigarettes, I’m not doing a show. You don’t care about me? I don’t care about you. All right? Are we going to play that game? I’m not kidding. I can’t sing if you smoke.”

Entiendes? [Understand?]” she said in the Spanish-speaking country.

The exchange seemed to go nowhere as smokers puffed away.

“You’re looking right at me and smoking cigarettes, like I’m a stupid [bleep]ing idiot.”

TMZ reported that Madge’s final outburst was good enough to convince smokers to put out their cigs and she went on with her performance.

In other Madonna news, Reuters reports that her “MDNA” tour has been ranked the No. 1 concert tour of 2012. After wrapping up the European leg, she still has seventy more shows lined up.

The tour could potentially rake in $450 million in total earnings and may end up as the all-time highest-grossing live act.
