The Beastie Boys — who famously posited, “What’s the time? It’s time to get ill!” — released a limited-edition line of watches Tuesday to support programs at newly named Adam Yauch Park in Brooklyn. The timepieces, created with Nixon in assorted bright colors, feature the group’s Mike D in a yachting outfit on the dial and a quote, “I accept this award on behalf of the band,” on the band. The $75 watches quickly sold out, though donations are still accepted at the Beasties’ site. Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz said at a park dedication ceremony Friday, “In life, you don’t really get to choose your family . . . I got extra lucky because around 1982, I got the chance to choose two other brothers, Mike Diamond and Adam Yauch.” Also there: Horovitz’s sister, producer Rachael Horovitz, Marty Markowitz, Sean Lennon, music manager John Silva, ex-parks commish Adrian Benepe and Yauch’s parents Noel and Frances. Beasties co-founder Yauch died from cancer a year ago at 47.
