David Stark’s décor for the Tate Americas Foundation Artists Dinner Wednesday was billed as “English garden meets industrial chic,” and guests’ looks ranged accordingly from florid (Sarah Jessica Parker, Amy Sedaris) to futuristic (Anne Hathaway, Marina Abramovic). The night to honor artists including Bruce Nauman, Tony Oursler and Alex Katz raised $2 million. When a Dior shopping trip and lunch at the Four Seasons with Parker were auctioned off for $45,000, the “Sex and the City” star spontaneously offered another lot of the same to bring in forty grand more. Also up for bidding were a career guidance session and lunch with Harper’s Bazaar editrix Glenda Bailey, and a chance for artist Nathan Carter to come over and decorate your Christmas tree during the holidays. Spotted among the 650 at Skylight at Moynihan Station were Martha Stewart, Andy Cohen, Alexa Chung, Ciara, gallerists Marian Goodman and Barbara Gladstone and Tate Americas’ director Richard Hamilton. Glasgow-based artist Jim Lambie DJ’d an after-party.
