American Ballet Theatre soloist Misty Copeland is shopping two new books to publishers, sources say, including a memoir and an illustrated volume for young readers. Copeland’s memoir follows her journey from living in a motel room with her mother and five siblings to becoming the ABT’s first African-American female soloist in more than 20 years. The tome’s also a look at the competitive world of professional ballet. Copeland discovered dance at her local Boys & Girls Club and is now a club ambassador.
