Scientology bosses are fighting back following Leah Remini’s announcement she was leaving the church. In a statement obtained exclusively by Page Six, the Church of Scientology has accused their detractors of pushing “myths” and “off the wall tabloid tales.”

In a Monday radio interview with Twin Cities radio station myTalk 107.1, Leah’s older sister, Nicole, claimed that the church turned its back on the “King of Queens” star after she questioned Tom Cruise’s “weird” relationship with Scientology leaders.

In light of the recent claims, Scientology representative Karin Pouw told us, “We won’t dignify the myths, radio gossip, rumors and off-the-wall tabloid tales that have their origins with self-promoting bloggers living on the fringe of the Internet.”

Pouw is the American spokeswoman for the Church of Scientology and Director of Public Affairs for Church of Scientology International. She also emphasized, “We would appreciate if you run this verbatim.”

As we previously reported, sources said that Leah threatened to call police after “her many unanswered questions” about the whereabouts of leader David Miscavige’s wife, Shelly, while attending Cruise and Katie Holmes’ 2006 wedding.

Scientology blogger Tony Ortega wrote last week, “Shelly has not been seen [in public] since 2006, except for one sighting when she was allowed to attend the funeral of her father… Remini dared to ask about it — and loudly.”

Page Six reported that Leah made her dramatic break from the church after she began to also question practices including forcing its followers to “disconnect” from family members branded as “suppressive persons” [SPs] and the treatment of its Sea Org members.

Nicole is also a former member of the church. She said in her radio interview that “everybody” in her family has left following her sister’s exit.

“Everybody left… when this all came down, everybody had to make a choice whether they were going to stick by Leah or stick by the church. So they all left at the same time.”
