Penelope Cruz has given birth to a daughter on the same day that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed a baby boy.
Cruz was admitted to Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid on Monday, as confirmed by Spanish magazine hola!
This is the second child for Cruz and her husband, Javier Bardem, 44. The name of the baby girl is not yet known.
Cruz, 39, was last seen on Saturday with her large bump on display as she headed for dinner with her actor hubby in Madrid, Spain.
Page Six broke the news in February that the Spanish beauty was expecting another child.
She already has two-year-old son Leo Encinas Bardem with the actor, to whom she has been married for three years.
Cruz began dating Bardem in 2007 and married in early July 2010 in an intimate ceremony at a friend’s home in the Bahamas.
Cruz spoke about her experience as a first-time mom in an interview with Vogue back in June 2011.
“From the first second, you feel so much love,” Cruz said.
“It is a revolutionary experience,” she added. “That’s the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment, when you see that face, you are transformed forever.”
