David Arquette files for divorce from Courteney Cox

It’s been a busy week for whacky actor David Arquette. After news broke that the “Scream” star had a Bar Mitzvah in Israel, TMZ reported today that he’s officially filed for divorce from estranged wife Courteney Cox.

Arquette and Cox’s 13th wedding anniversary would have been today.

The Web site says kooky Arquette will represent himself in the divorce case. In court documents filed on Friday, Arquette also cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. And he asks for joint custody of the couple’s daughter, Coco, who’s turning 8 this week.

Arquette isn’t requesting spousal or child support, according to TMZ, and the paperwork doesn’t mention how any property would be divided between the stars who were married in 1999 and announced their initial separation in 2010.

At that time, the pair released a statement saying, “The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage.”

Arquette was in a relationship with Christina McLarty that ended in early March, when he tweeted, “Sadly I’m single again.”

According to the court documents filed Friday, Arquette had signed the divorce papers March 23, but held onto them for months.

He’s currently traveling in Israel for a new travel show, called “Trippin.” And the actor spontaneously had a Bar Mitzvah this week in Jerusalem.

However, Arquette corrected his age after initial reports he’d gone through the ceremony 28 years too late, at 41.

“Thanks to all the well wishers,” he said via Twitter today. “I told a reporter I was 41 yesterday but I realized I’m only 40. True story.”
