Stephen Baldwin charged with tax evasion, could face prison

More money trouble for Stephen Baldwin.

The youngest Baldwin brother has been charged with failing to file New York state income taxes for three years.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe says Baldwin owes more than $350,000 in taxes and penalties. He says Baldwin was arraigned Thursday on a charge of repeated failure to file tax returns.

The D.A. told TMZ, “At a time when Rockland County and New York State face severe fiscal shortfalls, we cannot afford to allow wealthy residents to break the law by cheating on their taxes”

Baldwin pleaded not guilty and was released without bail.

Baldwin could face up to four years in prison if convicted, the D.A. said. The actor is due back in court on Feb. 5.

This is just the latest drama for Baldwin, who has had a series of money issues in recent years. TMZ reported that the actor filed for bankruptcy in 2009.

In October, he plead guilty to the infraction of driving without a license and paid $155 in fines and fees. Cops say they discovered Baldwin had a suspended license when they pulled him over August 24 after he pulled an illegal U-turn between 7th and Lenox.

The 46-year-old starred in 1995’s “The Usual Suspects” and appeared in 1989’s “Born on the Fourth of July.”
