Celebs react to Golden Globe nominations

The 70th Golden Globe Award nominations were announced today and many celebs were thrilled with the honor.

Birthday girl Taylor Swift received her first nomination for her song “Safe & Sound” which appeared on “The Hunger Games” soundtrack. She took to Twitter and wrote, “Best birthday surprise EVER-just found out that Safe&Sound is nominated for a GOLDEN GLOBE!! Thank you @goldenglobes and HFPA! #hungergames.”

Steve Buscemi also got a birthday surprise on Dec. 13. The now 55-year-old was nominated for his third Golden Globe for his role in “Boardwalk Empire.” (He won the award in 2011.) “I’m so grateful to be able to play Nucky, it never gets old,” he said in a statement.

Nicole Kidman earned two 2013 Golden Globe nominations, one for her supporting role in “The Paperboy” (which also stars Zac Efron and John Cusack) and one for her part in the TV movie “Hemingway and Gellhorn.”

Kidman posted on her Facebook page, “Can’t believe it! Thank you to all the actors who nominated me and especially to John Cusack and Zac Efron, who gave me so much. I am in Europe filming Grace Kelly and I was completely taken by surprise. Love & hugs, Nic xx”

Kidman’s “Hemingway and Gellhorn” costar Clive Owen also got a Best Actor nod. “I’d like to say a big thank you to The Hollywood Foreign Press,”’ Owen said in a statement. “I am really thrilled as this recognition is for a piece of work I’m very proud of and had such a good time on.”

“Django Unchained” garnered multiple nods including Best Director Motion Picture, Best Screenplay Motion Picture and Best Motion Picture Drama for Quentin Tarantino.

“It’s very gratifying to get this many nominations from the HFPA for a film I worked so hard on and am so passionate about.” Tarantino said in a statement. “I look forward to having fun at the Golden Globes with my cast mates and fellow nominees.”

“Django” also got an acting nod for Leonardo DiCaprio for his role as a plantation owner.

“I’m truly honored to be nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association today,” DiCaprio said in a statement. ”’Django Unchained’ was a remarkable experience and I consider myself lucky to work with Quentin and the entire cast on the film. I’m particularly proud to be named alongside my fellow ‘Django’ nominees.”
