Mindy McCready boyfriend – suicide by gunshot: report

Mindy McCready’s boyfriend David Wilson appears to have committed suicide in his Arkansas home.

Authorities at Cleburne County Sheriff’s department said they were called to the scene Sunday night and found the music producer with a “self-inflicted gunshot wound.” He was reportedly transported to the local hospital but was declared dead shortly after.

Wilson, 34, is the father of a 9-month old son with the troubled country singer. She called her live-in boyfriend her “soulmate” and “life partner.”

“Today, we mourn the loss of my life partner and my children’s father, David Wilson,” McCready said in a statement to FOX411. “David was my soulmate; he was a caregiver and guiding hand to our sons, Zander and Zayne. He was a precious gift from God to all of us and, yesterday, he returned home and is now with his mother and father.”

McCready’s rep has not confirmed that Wilson committed suicide.

McCready rose to fame in the mid-1990s when she moved to Nashville at the age of 18, armed with only her karaoke tapes. Her first album, “Ten Thousand Angels,” sold two million copies.

Her next four albums weren’t as successful as personal troubles encroached on her professional success. According to her Web site, she suffers from severe depression.

McCready fought the release of a tape in which she reportedly talked about former Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens, with whom she had an affair as a teenager.

In August 2011, she filed a libel suit against her mother and the National Enquirer’s parent company, American Media Inc., over a story published in the tabloid newspaper that quoted Gayle Inge, McCready’s mother.

And in 2008, McCready was admitted to a hospital after police said she cut her wrists and took several pills in a suicide attempt.

During the TV show “Celebrity Rehab 3” in 2010, McCready came off as a sympathetic figure, and host Dr. Drew Pinsky called her an angel in the season finale.
