Charlie Sheen on his best behavior in Manhattan

Is Charlie Sheen a new man? In Manhattan for press engagements, the actor has been having a quiet stay at the Trump International Hotel, where, an insider tells Page Six exclusively, he “has never been a problem and is, in fact, always a great guest.” (A rep for the hotel declined to comment.)

That’s certainly a change from past stays in the city. Sheen was banned from the Ritz-Carlton this summer, a source says, after a rowdy stay full of frequent female guests. The source claims this followed a similar stay when Sheen was in town for the TCAs. A rep for the hotel vigorously denied such reports at the time.

No one can forget, however, Sheen’s infamous stay at the city’s Plaza Hotel in 2010, when he trashed his suite in a rampage involving porn star Capri Anderson and, allegedly, drugs.

Speaking with David Letterman last night, Sheen said that incident and the meltdown that followed had strictly psychological, not chemical causes. “Here’s the confusing part,” he insisted. “I wish it was crack cocaine. I wish it was an ocean of vodka, a bathtub full of pills.”

“It was just my brain was kind of separated into itself,” he explained. “I just had to take a stand for what I know was right.”

But despite his good behavior at the Trump International, he said, “I don’t really believe in that [sober] lifestyle any more cause it doesn’t seem fair – you guys don’t want me clean and sober, that’s boring!”

One title he’s not ready to accept: grandpa. Sheen revealed to Letterman that his daughter, Cassandra Estevez, is expecting. Estevez is the daughter of Sheen’s high school girlfriend, Paula Speert.
