Fashion designer Stefano Gabbana has been looking at property in New York, amid his and Domenico Dolce’s troubling legal battle at home in Italy. Gabbana was recently seen viewing the $60 million, five-bedroom penthouse at the Mark Hotel. The duo recently lost a court case in which they were accused of evading more than 400 million euros in taxes (about $528 million) after selling their brands to a holding company in Luxembourg. They’re appealing 20-month jail terms and a fine of 343 million euros. “We are not going to give in to being crucified like thieves, because we are not,” Gabbana said. “We are good people, we live in Italy, we pay taxes in Italy, we don’t pretend to live abroad.” His rep didn’t comment.
