Barry Slotnick backing for Cats

John Catsimatidis has earned the support of high-profile defense attorney Barry Slotnick, who is best known for defending “subway vigilante” Bernie Goetz, the Queens commuter who shot four would-be muggers who approached him on the train in the late ’80s. Slotnick declared in a letter, “The city needs John Catsimatidis as its next mayor, because he is going to be a great one.” Citing the supermarket giant’s business acumen, Slotnick said Catsimatidis “understands New Yorkers in the core of his being.” The lawyer opined: “He has created thousands of jobs, is well-respected in many communities and has the leadership and hands-on business experience needed to run New York successfully.” Meanwhile, mayoral rival Bill de Blasio has won the support of “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon and her wife, Christine Marinoni, Sarah Jessica Parker, Susan Sarandon, Russell Simmons, Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi and Alan Cumming. “30 Rock” star Cheyenne Jackson has been reaching out for Christine Quinn, along with Neil Patrick Harris, Rufus Wainwright, Tim Gunn and Harvey Fierstein.
