Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie were moments away from spending an entire trans-Atlantic flight with one another this past weekend.

Aniston, 44, and Brad Pitt’s current partner were unknowingly set to be in first class of the same British Airways flight from Los Angeles to London on Sunday, but an employee caught the awkward coincidence and alerted Aniston’s people, reports E! News. The “We’re the Millers” star flew out the next day instead.

Ironically enough, the flight was just the first potential run-in for the pair.

Both women usually stay in the same luxe London hotel – one which Pitt and Aniston frequented when they were a couple – though measures were taken to avoid any run-ins this time around, with the actresses staying somewhere else, a source told E! News.

Pitt met current partner Jolie, 38, on the set of 2005’s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” while he was still married to Aniston. Much has been made of the drama surrounding the split, but in a 2008 interview with Vogue, Aniston said it was more mutual than many thought, although she did say that comments Jolie made about being unable to wait to go to work each day were “really uncool.”
