Accident lawyer Rubenstein gets trapped in penthouse elevator

Personal injury lawyer Sanford Rubenstein — who describes the arc of his life as “from the projects to the penthouse” — discovered one downside of penthouse living the other day when he was stuck for an hour in an elevator.

Rubenstein, who favors custom-made suits and bow ties, was trapped alone in an elevator at The Royale on E. 64th Street where he has a penthouse condo and neighbors who include shoe designer Steve Madden and “NFL Today” analyst and former coach Bill Cowher.

Tired of waiting for the building’s elevator mechanic to arrive, Rubenstein called 911 after an hour and the Fire Department soon had him out.

“I hope this will get the building to have the elevators refurbished,” said Rubenstein, who denied that he intends to sue the building for his pain and suffering.

“I have no intention of litigating the issue,” he said.
