Bryant Gumbel took a shot at Barneys when its CEO, Mark Lee, received a Spirit of Compassion Award at UNICEF’s Snowflake Ball on Tuesday. “Like these shoes?” emcee Gumbel asked at Cipriani Wall Street. “I got them at Barneys. Nice price . . . and I was only in the tank two hours,” he cracked, referring to the recent “shop-and-frisk” scandal. On the red carpet, Katie Couric’s fiancé, John Molner, pulled her away from a reporter, asking the scribe, “Are you writing a book?” But when new Yahoo anchor Couric saw a reporter from Yahoo, she circled back to ask the writer if she “needed anything.” “He doesn’t have a lot of patience for this whole scene,” Couric was heard saying of her beau. “No. I do, I do,” he replied.
