When Kim Kardashian posted a selfie of herself in a bathing suit to Instagram earlier this month, people couldn’t help but gawk at the brand new mom’s figure.

“I was trying on a bathing suit and I actually just sent that to my boyfriend – my fiancé – and I was like, ‘Babe, can I post this up? This is my, like, big middle finger to the world on everyone that called me fat,'” Kardashian, 33, told Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show” on Wednesday.

In her first televised interview since giving birth to her and Kanye West’s first daughter, North West, in June, Kardashian talked about being a mother, her recent engagement and the harsh criticism she got for her looks during and after her pregnancy.

“It really hurt my soul,” the first time mother said. “It changed how I am in the public a little bit…There were these stories where I was, like, 200 pounds. I was gaining weight because I was pregnant and it was really hard to read all these stories and hear all these nasty things. And I think people sometimes question, they think I’m out ‘in hiding’ now.”

Kardashian, who says she’s lost 50 pounds since giving birth, wore a white see-through dress over black underwear, proving that the selfie was no fluke. She said all the negativity directed at her during her pregnancy changed how she views her celebrity and has made her more protective of her privacy.

The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star also shed some light on her upcoming nuptials with the “Yeezus” rapper, 36, saying she thought the wedding would be sometime next summer, and that Bruce Jenner would be walking her down the aisle despite the separation from her mother Kris Jenner.

The future Mrs. Kanye West also said she plans to take her soon-to-be husband’s last name.

“I’m probably going to have Kardashian as my middle name and then West…My daughter has the last name West and we’re a family so I want [my last name] to definitely be West.”
