Kenneth Cole saved the Village Halloween Parade with a last- minute $2,600 donation on Kickstarter last week. The parade was in danger of being canceled for the second year in a row, last year because of Hurricane Sandy. Event organizers started a Kickstarter campaign to raise $50,000 to cover its budget, drawing donations from more than 800 people. The parade was still short of its goal as of Wednesday night — but the designer and chairman of AIDS charity amfAR heard about the shortfall and kicked in the remainder. “It wasn’t about the money. It was about the parade meaning so much to so many people in New York,” said a Cole rep. The popular event will go on as planned Oct. 31.
