Chevy Chase gets kicked in alleged road rage incident

Chevy Chase channeled his inner Clark Griswold on an upstate highway – and got his butt kicked for trying to berate a driver, according to cops.

The “National Lampoon” star was driving north on Interstate 87 near the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge on Feb. 9 when he said another motorist cut him off, state police told The Post.

Believing his car may have been struck by the 2015 Dodge Ram, Chase gave chase and flashed his lights at the driver, who pulled over near Exit 10 in South Nyack, Rockland County, cops said.

The 74-year-old actor realized that neither vehicle was damaged but wanted to speak to the driver “about his reckless driving,” TMZ reported.

At that point, one of the three passengers in the truck cursed at Chase, according to the gossip site.

“If I were a lot younger I’d bust your nose!” the actor said he told the passenger, who proceeded to kick him to the ground, TMZ reported.

The Dodge’s driver claimed the “Caddyshack” actor swung first and that the passenger merely tried to block his fist, according to a police document cited by TMZ.

Another driver also pulled over because he didn’t want to see an old man “get his ass stomped,” according to police.

Chase’s alleged attacker, identified as 22-year-old Michael Landrio of East Patchogue in Suffolk County, was slapped with a count of second-degree harassment, police said.

He was released on an appearance ticket and is due in South Nyack Court on March 5.

Chase’s reps did not respond to requests for comment about the big screen-worthy road-rage incident.

In 1989’s “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” Chase’s bumbling character Clark Griswold runs into a couple of country bumpkins in his station wagon – ending up under a tractor-trailer.

“Burn some dust here. Eat my rubber,” he says before his son, Rusty, corrects him: “Dad, I think you mean, ‘Burn rubber and eat my dust.'”
