Monica Lewinsky drama may hit the big screen

The Portly Pepperpot and her crusty blue Gap dress could be making a Hollywood comeback.

One of the top screenplays on the Black List, a compendium of the best movie scripts being shopped to studios, includes “Linda and Monica,” a drama penned by “Rome Is Burning” writer Flint Wainess.

“The absolutely crazy true story of the relationship between Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp, the woman who nearly destroyed the Clinton presidency — and herself in the process” is being pitched by UTA.

Lucianne Goldberg — the literary agent who persuaded Tripp to start recording her phone calls with the chatty White House intern — is thrilled the drama might finally be coming to the big screen.

“No one has approached me about anything to do with this. But frankly, it’s a fabulous story and a lot isn’t known by the public,” Goldberg told me.

I’m picturing Selena Gomez as Lewinsky and Charlize Theron as Tripp.

A producer doesn’t need permission from public figures to tell their life stories, but could be sued for slander if the depiction is false and defamatory.

“I do love to involve lawyers,” Goldberg said. “And I think Linda might give whoever is doing it a tough time.”
