Leonardo DiCaprio celebrated his 42nd birthday last week with a vacation in French Polynesia with model girlfriend Nina Agdal, his mom, and “Shutter Island” producer Mike Medavoy and his wife.
The Oscar winner took part in a celebratory ceremony with a local tribesman from a nearby island, who we’re told thanked DiCaprio for his work on behalf of the environment and gave him a necklace as a present.
The group stayed at the luxe “Marlon Brando resort” on the island of Tetiaroa — which is accessible by private plane and where two-bedroom villas go for around $4,800 per night.
The spot uses a number of conservation aids, including solar energy and “seawater air conditioning,” we hear, and has the goal of having “zero carbon impact, with guests riding around on bikes” — one of DiCaprio’s favorite modes of transportation when he’s not flying private.
The actor may be taking notes for his own sustainable resort in Belize, set to open in 2018.
