Trump recounted flirting with Kelly Preston in post about her son’s death

Donald Trump once boasted about trying to pick up Hollywood hottie Kelly Preston — in a blog post expressing condolences to her and husband John Travolta on the tragic death of their teenage son, it was reported Tuesday.

“I have always respected people who were loyal and faithful–which brings to mind Kelly Preston. A long time ago, before I was married, I met Kelly Preston at a club and worked like hell to try and pick her up. She was beautiful, personable, and definitely had allure,” the GOP presidential nominee wrote in a Trump University blog in January 2009.

“In any event, my track record on this subject has always been outstanding, but Kelly wouldn’t give me the time of day. She was very nice, very elegant, but I didn’t have a chance with her, and that was that,” he wrote, insisting he did not know she was married.

He went on to praise her “values” and “loyalty” to Travolta for spurning his advances. “Some people have values that matter to them, and she is one of them. Her loyalty was unwavering and I have always remembered that about her,” Trump wrote. “Being true to someone is very close to being true to yourself. That’s a valuable attribute in today’s world. I’m sure she was a wonderful mother to Jett and my thoughts are with her and her family after their terrible loss.”

Commentators on the blog applauded Trump for praising Preston’s fidelity to her actor husband.

“I agree with many things you say. I’ve read your book ‘Think Big’ and will read the other ones. Congratulations for all your achievements in life. You are my hero for this year,” wrote one named Marylyn.

“I am impressed with your willingness to share and recognition of the importance of loyalty,” wrote another, who posted anonymously.

Jett Travolta, who had a history of seizures, died in January 2009 while on a Christmas vacation in the Bahamas.

The blog post, first reported by Mother Jones, comes as at least a dozen women have come forward charging that Trump had made crude sexual advances and propositioned them.

Trump has responded by attacking his accusers, calling them liars and fabulists, and saying that several were too unattractive to merit his attention.

He also threatened to sue every one of them once the election is over, and has said, without offering evidence, that Hillary Clinton’s campaign put them up to making their accusations to smear him.
