New doc offers inside look at Michael Hutchence of INXS

Chris Murphy, longtime manager of INXS, is producing a new feature-length documentary on the band’s lead singer, Michael Hutchence.

Murphy, who managed INXS from 1980 to 1995, has teamed up with “Searching for Sugar Man” producer Passion Pictures for the film.

“Michael Hutchence wrote some of the sexiest lyrics in music, and I look forward to telling his story truthfully and with respect. [And] I am extremely proud that Michael’s film includes his daughter, Tiger Lily, as the beneficiary,” Murphy said.

The Australian band’s longtime video director Richard Lowenstein will direct the film.

Hutchence and INXS scored mega-success with ’80s hits “Need You Tonight” and “What You Need.” Hutchence committed suicide in 1997.
