Tom Cruise involved in hunt for man who offered to bomb places for Scientology

Tom Cruise has been dragged into an LAPD probe of an incident in April, in which an unknown person made a worrisome call to the Church of Scientology, TMZ reports.

“Are there any bombings I can do?” the man, who identified himself as a Muslim, said. He also added that he “liked to do suicide bombings.”

According to police documents, the caller then began to sing, “Allah akbar, Tom Cruise.” Allah akbar, which has been uttered by terrorists in recent attacks, is Arabic for “God is great.”

The mention of Cruise’s name in particular has gotten the “Mission: Impossible” star tangled up with the police as they pursue the caller.

The LAPD issued a search warrant to AT&T, to force it to provide phone records of the call.

Cruise is nearly as well known for his Scientology beliefs as he is for his action-film career. He has been involved with the controversial organization since 1990.
