Will Smith’s Oscar boycott was the butt of Jamie Foxx’s jokes at the American Black Film Festival Awards on Sunday.
Foxx, who won an Academy Award for “Ray,” “made fun of [Smith] for not having won. He said, ‘Me and Denzel [Washington] were like, “What’s the big deal?” ’ ” a spy said of Foxx’s jokes about Smith’s boycott over the awards’ lack of diversity this year. “Then [Foxx] said, ‘hashtag act better.’ The crowd couldn’t stop laughing. He was pretty much like, ‘We have Oscars.’ It was hilarious.”
Foxx also poked fun at Smith’s Nigerian accent in “Concussion.”
Smith was not in the crowd that included Pharrell Williams, Diahann Carroll and Kerry Washington. The taped show aired on Tuesday.
