Lou Dobbs: “America brings more lawful immigrants than four other nations combined. We’re committed to social justice, entitlement, welfare. We support immigration. But we are a nation of laws. Social justice equals legitimate entry.
“Forget Democrat, Republican, Independent. Foremost the national interest must be met.
“Disinformation is being perpetrated. Understand, Obama’s running a disinformation campaign. It’s against the country. He promised ‘the most transparent open administration?’ Right. Just like the Soviet Union.
“Our ally Israel is under daily assault. He says we should ignore rocket launches. So far he’s green-lighted Assad and Putin and Iran.
“And created a permanent underclass. No jobs. No education. Flooding the nation with unlawful immigrants is direct competition to lawful unemployed Americans. We must create employment. The unskilled cannot provide for the masses.
“He’s against the opportunity to strive for achievement. Free capitalist enterprise is where jobs come from.
“The White House created the open borders impact problem. This humanitarian crisis begins with our unemployment. It’s a sham. Coordinated and orchestrated implicitly and directly by this administration. Immigrant minors have risen exponentially over three years.
“These children could be exporting diseases. Twenty percent from El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala are unaccompanied. Promising illegal entrants with no skills, no education, no health, can’t work, can’t find jobs, many of whom will have to be deported, is an injustice to US. He’s preposterous.
“Creating injustice for those Americans who stand in the back of the line, he’s reduced us to rubble.
“This man’s policies must be rejected. There’s high 70 percent disapproval of his handling. Or mishandling. Democrats, minus a handful of dissenters, support his policies — even though the USA doesn’t. We must do what’s right for legitimate refugees.
“You can’t rationalize such conduct as ineptitude. His innate canons prove him utterly incompetent. I’m beginning to respect — more and more — that Chicago background. Too much appears accidental.”
And all I said to Lou Dobbs was “Hello.”
Gun control fight’s a long one
While we lost James Brady, the disabled White House press secretary, we gained the very abled Sarah Brady, his wife. In April 1986, she began her tour of the nation.
And what was the reason? To fight for gun controls. That’s 28 years ago. We’re still fighting for them.

How one guy escaped mugging
A Peter Gallagher memory: “I walked up Eighth Avenue around 1 a.m. Alone. Looking clean. Like I was right off the boat. At 50th Street, from the shadows, came six guys. Surrounding me, one jabbed his finger. I thought, ‘Ohhh, this is it.’ I said: ‘Ibegos Imbergos Imbe . . . borschkevesna bevarya varge . . . dominya New York? Mishmnorgya Mishne.’ The guy said, ‘Man, he won’t have American money,’ then: ‘That’s what language?’ Forgetting I don’t speak English, I replied, ‘Portuguese.’ He said, ‘I speak Spanish’.
