Hope Solo apologizes after domestic violence arrest

Hope Solo is sorry.

“I would like to apologize to my fans, teammates, coaches, marketing partners and the entire US Soccer and Seattle Reign FC communities for my involvement in a highly unfortunate incident this past weekend,” the US women’s soccer star, 32, wrote on Facebook Thursday.

She continued, “I take seriously my responsibilities as a role model and sincerely apologize to everyone I have disappointed.”

But due to impending legal issues, Solo could not go into detail about what happened on June 21.

“I am confident in the legal process and believe my name will be cleared,” she added. “I look forward to getting back on the field where I belong with Seattle Reign FC and the US Women’s National Team.”

Solo was taken into custody last Saturday after she allegedly attacked her sister and nephew. She was held on two counts of fourth-degree domestic violence and went on to plead not guilty in court Monday morning. She was released without bail and was ordered to not contact the victims and to abstain from alcohol.
