Swizz Beatz approached to start a New York artists club

Swizz Beatz wants to create a community of artists in New York after seeing all the work at Art Basel Miami. Swizzy said he’s been approached to start a club for artists in the Meatpacking District.

He told us, “It’s a huge space downtown, and I hope it could become a club for artists, like a Soho House, but without membership fees so they can work, share ideas and celebrate together. Artists are being forced out of New York because of the cost of living, so I want to create a new community to help them.”

Haute Living and Swizz hosted a dinner Saturday at entrepreneur Bill Dean’s Miami estate to celebrate the mag’s 10th anniversary.

Swizz, who says wife Alicia Keys is due to give birth in three weeks to their second child, got in the DJ booth with Hannah Bronfman and Usain Bolt, who was swarmed by women giving him their phone numbers and male fans who wanted photos.

Also there: street artists Swoon and Maya Hayuk and NBA stars Ray Allen and Alonzo Mourning.
