For Lena Dunham, the third time should be the charm.

The 28-year-old actress and writer, popularly known for her hit HBO show “Girls,” posted an image of her own rear end to Instagram Thursday depicting a bloody bite left behind by her rescue mutt Lamby.

“My dog bit me on the ass and Jemima Kurke captured the image of a lifetime,” she captioned the pic, which has since been removed.

But the joke quickly turned sour, as critics were quick to point out that this is at least the third time the dog has attacked a human. Following the bite, Dunham tweeted:

And in a piece Dunham published in the New Yorker last year, she described how her boyfriend was on the receiving end of Lamby’s viciousness soon after they brought the pup home.

“But the minute we arrive home it gets weird: Lamby picks up a stuffed toy in his mouth and shakes it hard, as if to break its neck. He’s growling. My boyfriend reaches his hand out to calm him and Lamby lunges, biting him. Whether it’s aggression or play is unclear, but we back out of the room all the same,” she writes.

Dog attacks are not to be taken lightly, as seen in the recent viral video of a Labrador-chow mix attacking a 4-year-old boy in his driveway, before the boy’s cat comes to the rescue. That dog was put down following a 10-day assessment at a local animal shelter.

Nonetheless, Dunham took to Twitter to come to Lamby’s defense.
