When Peter Brant bought artist Walter De Maria’s East Sixth Street studio and home, a former Con Ed substation, for $27 million in August, some speculated the billionaire collector’s foundation would turn it into an art center.
While Brant hasn’t publicly discussed plans for its 16,400 square feet, he hosted a show by Gagosian gallery artist Dan Colen there this week.
The raw space included floors strewn with empty bottles and hand-painted cigarette butts.
A sculpture of Scooby-Doo looked soused as guests including Tony Shafrazi and Jane Holzer circulated.
