Michael Buffer — famous for bellowing, “Let’s get ready to rumble!” before boxing matches — made his Broadway debut Wednesday night in “Rocky.”
Eric Anderson usually plays the role of an announcer in the musical, but Buffer was instead introduced during the show’s climactic ending to deliver his famed line before Rocky (Andy Karl) takes on Apollo Creed (Terence Archie) on the stage.
Buffer is in town to serve as ring announcer for the world middleweight championship at MSG on Saturday night between undefeated champ Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin (aka “Triple G”) and Daniel Geale.
Golovkin also had a cameo in Wednesday’s “Rocky” performance as an “up-and-coming” fighter.
He was onstage hitting the heavy bag for a few minutes in the first act.
