Mickey Rourke wears Putin T-shirt, doesn’t care about politics

Mickey Rourke is making quite the fashion statement.

While in Moscow on Monday, the 61-year-old “Iron Man 2” star was spotted wearing a gray T-shirt depicting Russia’s President Vladimir Putin surrounded by flowers.

Rourke purchased the T-shirt from GUM department store and put it on right away. It was the second time the popular shirt depicting the leader went on sale — it previously sold out in June.

According to the Independent, Rourke commented to reporters about his purchase, “If I didn’t like him, I wouldn’t buy the T-shirt, believe me.”

Rourke is more than just a supporter of Putin. “I met him a couple of times and he was a real gentleman, a very cool regular guy, looked me right in the eye,” he said. “I think he is a good guy. If I didn’t, believe I wouldn’t wear the T-shirt.”

But the actor says his shirt is not about politics.

“I have a Russian girlfriend, that’s all I care about. Her father is a good person, her mother’s great, her babushka’s wonderful. To me it’s all about family. I don’t give a f—k about the politics. That’s not my department.”
