The reason for the lice outbreak backstage at “Matilda the Musical” was because the show’s kiddie cast was sharing “hair accessories,” sources close to the show said.
Producers were itching to combat the critters after at least six stars’ scalps were found to host the bloodsuckers last weekend, and we hear they called in New York service Lice Busters.
“They gave the kids a one-time treatment of an all-natural remedy,” said a source. “They combed out everything. The cast is now lice-free.”
The infestation was the talk of a reception for Drama Desk Award nominees on Wednesday, spies said, where guests included Andy Karl of “Rocky,” Jessie Mueller from “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” as well as Sophie Okonedo.
