Once a focal point of New York’s early century rock resurgence, Julian Casablancas has outgrown the city where he came of age.

“I walk around New York now and get upset,” the Strokes frontman, 36, admitted in an interview in the September issue of GQ.

More than a decade removed from breaking through into the public consciousness with the release of the Strokes’ first album, “Is This It?” in 2001, the rocker, wife Juliet Joslin and their son have decamped for upstate New York.

“Um, we just found a cool place that we liked that we wanted to go, and also … I don’t know … Sorry …,” the singer said when pressed for a reason.

As with many other things — his father passed away last year, his band’s been unable to recapture the excitement — New York is no longer the city he once knew.

“I don’t know how many, like, white people having brunch I can deal with on a Saturday afternoon,” Casablancas finally admitted.

While he may no longer live in the Big Apple, Casablancas is still putting out music. His first album with his new band, The Voidz, is due out Sept. 23.
