Melanie Griffith is getting creative in covering her permanent tribute to Antonio Banderas: While out in Los Angeles on Monday, the 56-year-old was spotted wearing a bandage that read “Mel” over the ink bearing her soon-to-be ex-husband’s first name.

Why the bandage? She’s currently undergoing treatments to remove the tattoo.

The “Working Girl” actress first covered the tattoo at the 2014 Taromina Film Festival in Italy on July 17. She blotted out the name, leaving the heart intact. Three days later, she remerged with the entire tattoo covered by what is believed to be makeup.

In June, Griffith and Banderas announced their split after 18 years of marriage. Griffith is seeking child support and sole physical and joint legal custody of their daughter, Stella, who turns 18 in September.
