Bette Midler keeps it light at NYRP spring picnic

Bette Midler kicked off New York Restoration Project’s spring picnic outside Grant’s Tomb Thursday, cracking, “I’m really 180 years old and President Grant was my boyfriend.”

Mistress of ceremonies Judy Gold raised eyebrows saying Grant is buried with “Joan Rivers’ nose and eyes, Hugh Hefner’s prostate and Beyoncé’s marriage,” and quipping, “Everyone’s here save for Donald Sterling, who has front row seats to ‘A Raisin in the Sun.’ ”

Mayor Bill de Blasio joked, “No tension in my house that my wife [Chirlane McCray] got a New York magazine cover before me.”

Midler thanked her daughter Sophie for donating $10,000 and Douglas Elliman CEO Dottie Herman for selling 10 tables.
